Each year at the Awards Banquet, two special awards are given:
Coaches' Merit Award
and the
Image Award
.
The Coaches Merit Award recipient is chosen by the Coaches;
the Image Award recipient is
chosen by the skaters
and is
voted on at the Awards Banquet.
The Image Award is awarded annually to a Lakewood Winter Club skater
who excels as a role model for everyone at the skating rink.
When making your decision about who to vote for at the Awards Banquet,
please keep this criteria in mind.
Image Award Criteria
This skater is an athlete that young skaters can look up to and emulate. This skater makes all skaters, professionals and parents proud.
Skaters who are in contention for the Image Award are skaters that:
• Have tremendous work ethic
• Are good sports when they lose & when they win
• Are polite and always in a positive mood
• Demonstrate a "can do" attitude
• Are supportive of all other skaters at any level
Coaches' Merit Award Criteria
Selection is based on the Lakewood Winter Club
Skater Code of Conduct, which states:
"During skating I will be an example to others through my speech, conduct and training. I will be responsible for my actions as I represent the LWC and Sprinker Recreation Center."
The LWC Skater Candidate:
• Must be a Lakewood Winter Club Competitive Skater: Intermediate through Senior Level
• Must have competed at 2009 Regional or Sectional or National Level
• Must display a committed and dedicated work ethic, while encouraging other skaters
• Must treat all skaters & coaches with respect
• Must participate in LWC activities
