Specialty Classes

Our skaters have access to a variety of specialty classes both on-ice and off-ice. Each class is tailored to the skaters' level.

Please check the Lakewood Winter Club Bulletin Board or with the Control Room for more information about each of these classes.

If you have any questions about participating in any of these classes, please discuss it with your coach.

Skater Levels
High Open Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, Junior, Senior
Intermediate Preliminary, Pre-Juvenile, Juvenile
Low FS 4-5, Pre-Preliminary



Intro to Power
This class will provide skaters with an introduction to the basic power and endurance skills needed to develop quality stroking.

Skaters must have passed Freestyle 2 and no higher than Freestyle 5.



Advanced Power Conditioning
Specially designed power conditioning classes set to music have been established for all levels of figure skaters. This on-ice aerobic conditioning class emphasizes strength, style, and speed.


Jumps, Spins, and Axels
This class is designed to develop and strenghten all areas of figure skating. Each week a new concept will be introduced, incorporating single and double rotation jumps including the axel jump, spins, combination spins and edge moves.

Skaters must have passed FS 2 and no higher than FS 5.



Ice Dancing
This class is designed for all levels of dancing and dances are taught in a group atmosphere.

Skaters must have passed Freestyle 1.



Off-Ice Jump with Heidi
This off-ice class will teach body control, awareness, and alignment as it relates to jumping. Emphasis on rotational skills, quickness, and clean rotation position.



Ballet for Figure Skaters with Amity Kernen
Ballet offers the opportunities for increased flexibility, muscle tone, and better posture. Class placement questions will be answered on the first day of each class.
